This mid range driver is paramount to the open sound picture the Riva portrays.
Based on listening tests, the diaphragm is made from a blend of different pulp to
obtain the desired balance of stiffnes, damping and density.
A small but precise amount of Egyptian papyrus fibers are added to make the membrane less
isotropic and to further enhance the sonic character.
The Riva cross-over is computer modelled to optimise driver integration and response accuracy,
and then fine-tuned by ear to ensure naturalness and a musically rewarding listening experience.
All components are carefully laid out to minimise electro-magnetic interactions, and the quality
of the critical signal path is maintained by taking advantage of the minimal losses in
polypropylene capacitors and the linearity of air-cored inductors.
For critical listening the grille is usually removed from the loudspeaker. By intergrating the
grille into the design, this is no longer needed with the Riva. Only 3mm thick, the sound is not
at all blocked anymore by the grille. By gluing it to the cabinet, it is furthermore no longer a
potential source of resonance.
Who's that tall drink of water? With a slim profile and a laid back posture Riva stands proud as
it lets it all hang out in an authorities presentation. Great imaging and solid sound staging are
the stand out traits of this remarkable speaker. Our advice "get comfortable", you're gonna be here
a while as the Riva tends to make the world disappear and time slip by.
